Will someone remind me that I have biscuits in the oven? Fifteen minutes. Thanks.
It’s a pretty day in SC, made all the more pleasant by the smell of football in the air. Okay, it’s not a real smell this far from the locker rooms and stadiums, but it’s a good warm fuzzy thing nonetheless. It’s the second weekend of the college game, opening weekend for the NFL and all my fantasy teams, and it’s Saturday morning – or as I’ve come to think of it, Pregame.
The Gamecocks are in Athens today to take on #21 Georgia – hoping it’ll be a close game where SC has a real shining moment on Offense somewhere in the mix. Some are picking us to win – I’m not so sure, but I think the Defense can make it happen. I’ll be flipping the channels all day to USC/OSU, UCLA/UT, ND/UM and even Fresno St/Wisconsin (right, Todd?).
We’ll also be doing a little shopping and excursioning on the agenda for the manchild’s birthday. Turning 14 tomorrow – took him and a couple of buddies to see the movie “9” yesterday (2.5 stars, very pretty film lacking in actual story). He’s in the middle of “birthday week” with a few cool gifts and tomorrow’s family party at Mom & Dad’s.
Let’s call the birthday agenda “Halftime” – because after the meal and cake and presents, we’ll be partaking in NFL football and Yahoo!’s stat-tracker to keep up with fantasy team players and the impending demise of Brett Favre, of the Cowboys, and of Chris Collinsworth’s hair.
Drinking coffee for our morning pregame – think I’m going to need some tailgate food… OH RIGHT – biscuits are done. Thanks for reminding me.
