Replacement

Mailbox4 The new mailbox is up and functional – or at least it’s up. The mailman hasn’t driven by yet to put anything inside, so I hope it’ll hold up to the force of carrying communication from Point A to our home abode, Point B.

What do we get in the mail besides bills and circulars? I tend to get too many books, at least one per week, to read and review here (wow, haven’t posted a review since May – I need to get on the stick). So that’s cool, getting an unexpected package with goodies inside. We get magazines – Relevant for me; Disney, Nick and a couple of gaming mags for the kids; and Southern Living for Vicki. Nothing beats a shipment of k-cups from CoffeeWiz.com, though. New coffee in the house makes it feel like Christmas every six weeks or so. Those aren’t coming the mailbox – usually we just thank our faithful UPS driver and rush inside to unpack the caffeinated goodness.

So here’s to the USPS, UPS and Fedex – the folks who deliver stuff to our house for the good of mankind. At least until my mailbox gets hit again.

People still hit mailboxes for sport? I thought now that we had the internet and the Nintendo Wii teenage boys would have given up on that.
    See you on Twitter!

Brown Plastic? Is that compliant with the neighborhood ordinances?

  3. Rick says:

Kyle – It’s compliant until (1) I get a letter of complaint, or (2) it meets its own demise with a baseball bat.
Juliana – this was a hit and run. We’ve had the baseball bat many times, but this was something running through the post.

I always wonder about mailboxes. I’ve never had one being as they are pretty unusual in the uk, our post gets shoved straight into the house. Do people not get mail stolen when it’s just out there in a box?

Pretty hefty federal offense to mess with the mail – so for the most part, you don’t hear of things very often. In more urban areas, it’s the door or boxes in the building. But out here in the sticks, everyone’s got a box for the postman, woo hoo. 🙂
