Got A Book 123

Here’s one I saw on a few blogs through my google reader, so I decided to post mine and pass it along.

  • Pick up the nearest book of 123 pages or more. No cheating!
  • Find Page 123.
  • Find the first 5 sentences.
  • Post the next 3 sentences.
  • Tag 5 people.

No kidding, the closest book to me, sitting on our loveseat next to the fireplace and a basket that’s full of books, is Key Lime Pie Murder by Joanne Fluke, one of my wife’s favorite mystery series entries (luckily, the second closest book, one of my daughter’s High School Musical novelizations, wasn’t any closer than it was).

On p. 123, here’s what I find as the 6th sentence and following:

"Just stay right where you are while I make some calls."

Hannah felt a wave of panic that started in her trembling legs and rose all the way up to her throat. She swallowed hard with a little gulp and tried to slow her rapid heartbeat.

I don’t think that’s meaningful in any way, shape or form – except to say that I should’ve started this post from another chair in the living room. But I do take the time to tag some of my blog friends – George, Todd, Chuck, Steve, Martha – and let me know if anyone else wants to play along and join the frivolity, too.

    i wanted to play…really i did..
    ….so i looked around…uhm…
the only book over 123 pages next to me was the church accounting software manual…eww…
…so i went to the next room and looked…no books there…next room…open bible on the table…ah…wow…hmmm…thats really just plain odd and i dont think that is the purpose of this game…but…honestly…no books around!!
(we are currently puttin all of our books in a library of shelves upstairs so we have them piled up in stacks in son’s old room and the guest room waiting for the shelves to be assembled.
and i have a stack of current reads in the bedroom…but…nothing around here)
    in order to play fairly….
(and not bore you with an accounting manual)
    exodus 16:19-21
19 Then Moses said to them, “No one is to keep any of it until morning.”
20 However, some of them paid no attention to Moses; they kept part of it until morning, but it was full of maggots and began to smell. So Moses was angry with them.
21 Each morning everyone gathered as much as he needed, and when the sun grew hot, it melted away.
i think i could have more fun sentences if i would have laptopped from another room too…

Maggots are always a good part of any meme – thanks for sharing :).
